I saw Chronicle, I mean that^one over there… I never heard of it before, haven’t seen any trailers / images, nothing. Every info I had about the movie was a lousy poster/ad in the Subway looking alot like any-other-teenage-super-power-crap-movie, and some reviews from IMDB. After I saw the poster, my first thoughts were “crap, won’t go, same shit”. And then I read some reviews, fast, on IMDB -> that shit needs to be seen, seems cool!
And there I was, in the theater (Light Cinema - best cinema in Bucharest btw, but lets move on). Unfortunately it was a small “room” - btw, WHY ON EARTH ARE THE LAYOUT OF CINEMA ROOMS/HALLS SO WELL HIDDEN I WILL NEVER UNDERSANDT… -anyway, in the first minutes I got pretty bored…the noise effects were pretty cool (Im trying as much as I can to not spoil anything, you can read on, I hate spoilers as much as you do).
Much of the movie wasn’t that fun and pretty boring, but as things evolves - and it starts to evolve (sometimes) in your mind ahead of the movie - things get really interesting, with some really cool / alive and “real-looking” effects you won’t see in the next Transformers, and I say it as a positive thing.
Could be spoiler, could be not, but I want to signal the next sentence as POSSIBLE SPOILER! ————————————————- Is it me, or this move took some pretty nice ideas and inspiration from AKIRA? One time I got “excited” to feel some bits of the strange tense of power like I felt while watching for the first time AKIRA. A great piece! Lovely! —————————————————-END OF POSSIBLE SPOILER
I recommend it with all my heart and mind, because its a really cool movie, a breath of fresh air we all need before the “summer-big-budget-cool-and-sparkly-movies” starts to show up.
If this movie had somehow a little deeper story / character interaction and had been longer (the longer the movie, the better the immersion I say), then it could have been my next District 9. It felt a little short, and everything that was cool / fun / tense it was in the last part / big final scene - and I thing that is a mistake - to cram up everything shiny / nice / cool in the last minutes of action, while just building up the momentum for almost the entire movie - a movie should be up-down-up-down, not up-up-upper-uppest-downdowndown…this one kinda felt like that.
As a side-note, when I will get my super powers (hopefully as soon as possible, first thing Ill do is to learn as good as I can regeneration and shielding myself. Then I will be able to wreak havoc “safely”. :)
Anyway, go see it! Did you like it?
