Mishka Henner made an interesting thing: a 12 volume book with our solar system, spreading from the Sun outwards, page by page (width of each page representing 1 million kilometers) - Sun is first, in volume 1, earth is on page 155 volume 1 aswell, Jupiter is on page 283, volume 2.

I say is the perfect reading for Sunday afternoon, even though you will find loads of empty space, but that’s why is called space out there, right?

You know what I am talking about don’t you? Remember Amelie songs…any ringing bells? That sweet accordion music comes from Musette Accordion music style, born in Paris.

I came across this interesting style that I never heard of, but always listen to it and enjoyed it as much as I could by listening to a song of Yann Tiersen (see previous post), actually the creator of Amelie OST.

For the first time, on Yahoo Answers I found the perfect answer, from Mario Bruneau regarding this style called Musette Accordion.

Wikipedia - Yann Tiersen (born 23 June 1970) is a musician from France. His musical career is split between studio albums, collaborations and film soundtracks with a distinctive sound that is always involved. It can be recognized by its use of a large variety of instruments; primarily the guitar, synthesizer or violin together with instruments like the melodica, xylophone, toy piano, harpsichord, accordion and typewriter. Someone asked in a blog post something like this: “…tu cand te uiti la tine te induiosezi sau te ironizezi?” / “when you look at yourself, do you feel sympathy or do you feel irony?” - to be more specific since online dictionaries suck big time, I mean, when you look at yourself in the mirror, do you take yourself serious and feel sympathy or do you laugh at yourself?

I think its interesting to think about that particular thought, to reflect about how do you see yourself. I consider that the way you feel about yourself paves your future in a pretty serious way.

I remember when I was younger, when I was thinking a lot about how should I be, what should I do, and, most important, how to do it. At that time I thought that there are some patterns regarding behavior, and if you touch some imposed mileage then you are described in a specific manner regarding that final result. I thought that if you party a lot, if you practice extreme sports or if you “live your life”-I bet you heard that dozens of times-then yes, you are living your life. If you stay all day at the computer playing then your life will get past you.

But that is so wrong! I believe that if you are enjoying whatever you are doing, then at that moment you are living your life, no matter what you’re doing, being in a club dancing your ass off, or watching movies for 9 hours straight (LOTR is the only movie that deserves that!).

I think that the most important thing is to know yourself, to take some time and reflect about you from an external point of view, and start to understand you and your behavior. Then take that knowledge and cross it with your own thoughts and visions about the world. The result will some time enlighten you, or maybe will just approve what you already knew. But nonetheless, it will be a great discovery.

Now, going back to the question “how do you see yourself”, I think now it makes more sense: are you by your side, do you understand that look staring at you? or do you see someone who isn’t how it should be, who needs more “work”?

Someone told me that the way you are seeing yourself makes a big impact on those around you, that will “see” you exactly the same way. For me at least, sometimes it made sense, sometimes it didn’t. But, true speaking, it will never be about the others, even if our society/way of life dictates this. The biggest true is that what you feel about you, what you do, and the way you feel about your actions in the world should only matter for you and for your inner satisfaction only. This is important, to be what you want to be, no matter what.

To answer to the question of this post, when I look at myself I feel that I can do more, but that I am also at peace with what I have done so far. I feel no regrets for nothing, because everything I have done I enjoyed!

I know that inside me there are also so many things that I want and must speak about, visually and verbally. This blog will be my way of sharing what lurks inside me, of giving life to my vibrations.

Awesome, optimistic, well animated and some really cool songs: worth watching for a lifted mood! Loved how they applied some classical recipes to a really well done animation (maybe minus the krills)! A big plus for a piece of opera (E Lucevan le stelle) - a nice way to spread classic music to a wide audience - I guess loads of persons checked Google to see from where did that song came from, discovering some really cool piece of classical operas. Smart WB!

And hey, they even have a Romanian song, “Dragostea din tei” - yeah, I think they still believe where from North Pole (see the movie to know what I am talking about-I am not spoiling) haha, its funny! I am from Svenland!

28 seems a lot of years…in dogs years, or for a cat, but not for me. I feel that I have more to say, more to do, and more to experience. I’ve never been the carpe diem person, not in the classic way, and if I feel that life should be lived as much as you can, then I say “live it at your own pace, at your own leisure, and live it by doing what you love to do, not what they say to do”.

I might be chaotic optimistic but I think that we really live extraordinary times. Now I have to be careful by won’t letting these times full of information/news/events to cloud my own self and my OWN ideas / perceptions and thoughts. Maybe this blog I started to update more and more is a repercussion of trying to imprint my own self through text, images and videos.

Now I am happy, and I can say that I got everything I desired the most: a lovely loving beautiful wife, a healthy body, a great perspective in developing myself and my career, and also lots of opportunities at the horizon.

For being such a happy person on my own birthday first of all I want to thank my wife, for being the first person to know me as I am, with goods and bads (You bebe are everything to me!).

I want to thank my coworkers, who are a truly wonderful collective who trusted in me in tough times, supported me into realizing my potential and initiated me into the art of tea-ing (Coke drinking got -80%).

I want to thank my (and bebe’s) parents for support.

It’s always nice to remember good old WoW days… Ahh, how I miss the AV massacre, riding my kodo (I’m a lucky alliance bastard btw… and a gnome to >.< ), making fun of BElfs and yell BLAME HIRAN every time we wiped. I miss IF, the raids to MC and Lady Vashj… When we were a guild, played till 5 am, and started all over the next day, not caring about a think, but only if Alfedea had those fire res potions ready or if our GL will show up with his kick-ass Thunderfury… Now I feel that Deathwing came and destroyed not only Azeroth, but something that will never be the same again.

Well, some things never change… like GNOMES!!!!

Heh, I spent a few years on this stuff, glad I have an extra life!

Ce pot sa zic, mi-a placut foarte mult!

DTD (Desktop Tower Defense)-urile imi plac, imi consuma timp la greu, sunt addictive si distractive, si mai ales (pentru cele bine gandite ce nu obstructioneaza jucatorul) au un nivel ridicat de dificultate la nivelele superioare. Le bag la categoria "easy to learn, hard to master" - jocul are o anumita "adancime" a jucabilitatii ce ma atrage.

Va intrebati de unde il stiu? De pe blogul meu preferat legat de jocuri Rock Paper Shotgun (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/04/14/anomaly-warzone-earth-demo-creeps-out/)

Ei bine acesta este un DTD inversat, unde tu esti in rolul nefericitului ce trebuie sa se tarasca printr-o cale aleasa de joc, fiind atacat din toate partile de "turetele" amplasate strategic de-o parte si de alta a drumului pe care te-ai hotarat sa pasesti. Spun hotarat, fiindca mai are o gaselnita, de fapt doua: 1: iti poti alege traseul oricand doresti (jocul intra in pauza, alegi traseul, reiei actiunea), iar 2: ai si un omulet pe care il controlezi ce poate alerga peste tot, activand diferite AOE (Area of Effect)-uri pentru a-ti ajuta sarmanele masinute sa treaca cu bine de ploaia de bombe si rachete.

Are o muzica reusita, in meniu este genul clasic de joc de actiune SF iar in misiuni un fel de "arabeasca" stilizata, actiunea avand loc in Baghdad si Tokio (nu am observat o diferenta cand am ajuns in Tokio - poate fiindca eram hipnotizat de grafica). Grafica arata bine, povestea este destul de usor de digerat dar de tipica si clar liniara. Actiunea este in regula (l-am jucat pe advanced ceea ce pot spune ca nu a fost greu deloc, poate o sa incerc si hardcore*). Poti alege sa fii calm, sa faci totul pas cu pas, sau poti sa te bagi cu capul inainte si sa ai parte de o actiune deeestul de tensionata.

Ca punct slab este faptul ca nu ne prezinta raza de actiune nici a unitatilor noastre, nici a turetelor, nici viata unitatilor (decat daca le vezi pe ecran, altfel daca te duci dupa vreun bonus te poti trezi fara escorta) ceea ce e pacat fiindca afecteaza gameplay-ul destul de mult.

Diversitatea iar are de suferit, ~6 tipuri de turete inamice, ~6-7 unitati de-ale tale plus 4 abilitati de folosit**.

Mi-a placut vocea comandantului ce iti vorbeste de misiuni si ce sa faci etc (prea multe detalii / te considera cam prost cateodata si iti da mura in gura informatii ce ar fi fost mai placut sa le aflii prin trial and error) - seamana cu a lui Jason Statham.

Merita jucat, e fun, si iti deschide si niste leveluri suplimentare dupa ce termini story mode-ul (pana si acelora li se ofera o explicatie - un fel de continuare a story mode-ului...tare!).

Engleza asta este grea rau... Atat de grea incat imi induce o lene incredibila in a scrie pe blog, desi gasesc zeci de subiecte interesante despre care as scrie o gramada... Asa ca de acum o sa scriu mai des si in limba tarisoarei in care m-am nascut, ca deh, am creierul setat pe RO.

Bun, ca am lamurit lucrul acesta, urmatorul post o sa fie despre Urzeala Tronurilor (Game of Thrones) ce tocmai si-a incheiat primul sezon (si eu prima carte odata cu el), asteptand sa o infulec pe a doua cu o mare pofta de necunoscut.

Bineinteles, or sa fie spoilere, asa ca aveti grija in caz ca nu ati citit / vazut nimic din prima carte / primul sezon.

Hooray for Adobe! They added some nice subscription plans for some of their software (Photoshop / InDesign / Illustrator etc) and to me this seems a real deal if you are a designer / photographer and want to stay legit and in touch with every new patch or software release.

Now you don't have any excuse to not use the very last version nor that you haven't upgraded for a long time. It's great that if, let's say, you have a break you can "pause" the subscription and restart it when you need it. Adobe really made a big step with this and I think it will revolutionize software market. Next step remains the cloud computing based software where you don't need to install anything at all... As they say, good things come in small packages, so lets enjoy this awesomeness!

If Google Reader Goes Down I Die! Need New Valid Alternative!

It seems that nobody but me loves the all mighty Google Reader, and this behavior struck me the first day I saw it changed a few days ago... I use it everyday ok? I am used to click on it, right near the web link, up there...and surprise, its not anymore...I must do an additional click to read my online newspaper... Readwriteweb confirmed that Google quietly moved the Reader "bellow the fold" (there is no mention at this time on their official blog bah!) and that pisses me off... really, what good great awesome alternative there are for my collection of hundreds of blogs and news sites? I mean to be able to read 600 articles a day and still to understand something... and to not lose any, to have them categorized by posting date, with shiny stars of favorites, grouped and organized tight? There is?? I dont see any right now... And, besides that, I love Google, cmon fellas wtf is wrong with you to do something like that? I say one more thing: DON'T! JUST DON'T DO THIS TO US, THE READERS OF GOOGLE READER.

On a side note, I had (and will still have) some "hiccups" in posting frequently because I got a new, provocative/engaging/ambitious job at PwC Romania (I am their Graphic Designer and I feel really lucky and honored to work with this new look - totally in love with their new brand look) and I am planning to give the best of me, in other words, won't have that luxury in creating top notch posts... I will post, but less than I used to at the end of 2010. Hopefully I will start doing some new nice photo shots and restart the Tumblr daily posting. Keep in touch! :)

I know it is kinda awkward to wish myself a Happy BDay, but hey, I want a happy day of mine! I am getting 27 years of living on this "rock", with the goods and the bads and I am starting to feel old... I promised myself that by having 30, I will have lovely job, a good salary and a home of my own, living alongside my beautiful girl who loves me and cares for me. Well, I found the most beautiful girl to enjoy every second with, I got a really cool dream job with loads of perspectives (Graphic Designer at PwC) and a wedding coming this August.

If the world doesn't end in 2012, well, now We have a bright future ahead of us both. What I really want for my oh-so-lovely BDays of the future? A DSLR HD camera, an Apple Mac Pro packed with top tech, an iPad and iPhone, a nice apartment in a skyscrapper high in the sky and a good vacation somewhere in the world. But these are all optional, since right now, I can say that I have everything I ever wanted and I fill fultfilled.

I dream alot these times, but I realized that with my unique Love beside me everything is possible if you want it hard and passionately. I am thankfull for these times, I am a happy and lucky person to have such a great girlfriend soon to be wife, to have such a nice job and to have such a healthy life.

Happy New Year to everyone! I enjoyed NYE from my balcony in Bucharest with my soon-to-be-wife lovely girlfriend because we missed the subway to downtown and we didn't wanted to push our luck and experience the new year in the underground. It was a fun night, with loads of laughs and good vibrations, but with our souls filled with a tremendous hope for a better new year.

Within our objectives of the new year, we want to go out more, dance more, play more, create more, read more, view more, listen more, laugh more, and be better persons with ourselves and our friends and family. With our wedding on the horizon (27 August but still, time flies) we think that 2011 will be OUR year. :)

Gawker Media have been hacked, and websites like Io9, Gizmodo, Lifehacker and other related sites had their commentators email and passwords got into the wild. While those fellas with smart-ass passwords don't need to panic right away, many not so inspired got their passwords decoded pretty fast - see "123456" and the obvious "password". You can read the FAQ right now, and also change your password ASAP (on their account and on other sites that have the same pass). I already changed mine, so go now and change that not so brilliant password!

Tumblr Is Coming Back

After 24 hours of downtime, lots of frustration and countless tumblr related lolcats, Tumblr is recovering. Techcrunch reports, and I witnessed it too that at this moment I can see the login page, but still can't reach the dashboard, nor see my tumblr pages. It seems that all started from a scheduled maintenance, and when a critical database cluster went down, there was no turning back.

"Yesterday afternoon, during planned maintenance that was not intended to interrupt service, an issue arose that took down a critical database cluster. This brought down our entire network while our engineers worked feverishly to restore these databases and bring your blogs back online.

While you might feel like you’ve gotten used to seeing errors on Tumblr recently, know that this is absolutely unacceptable to our team, and unacceptable for a platform determined to be the best place in the world for your creative expression.

Frankly, keeping up with growth has presented more work than our small team was prepared for — with traffic now climbing more than 500M pageviews each month. But we are determined and focused on bringing our infrastructure well ahead of capacity as quickly as possible. We’ve nearly quadrupled our engineering team this month alone, and continue to distribute and enhance our architecture to be more resilient to failures like today’s.

We can’t apologize enough, nor can we thank you enough for putting up with these growing pains. We know how impossibly frustrating it is to see your work offline. When a popular website, being Twitter, Tumblr or any other daily used service goes down, it reminds us to not rely 100 percent on something, being an email client, a blogging service etc. When you interact with something day by day, seeing that was taken down, it crashed or the service is closing forever, the world changes a little. I was afraid that Tumblr could be down for good, and I know that internet wouldnt be the same again without the microblogging of this easy to use, great service.

I always thought that when you do something with passion and for a long time, it prints inside you a unique mix of feelings related with that thing. Being a song, a game played with obsession, a movie you saw more than once or a book you loved, it will have a unique set of mixed feelings stored inside you forever. When something like an image or a sound remembers you about one of these things you enjoyed in the past, your body will be invaded by a cocktail of sensations and feelings related to those. It's a great feeling, and many past memories, stories, images and sounds comes to life from your personal memory vault.

Orioto, a french talented artist just struck me with plethora of beautifully painted wallpapers depicting classic video games. I managed to catch Orioto on Deviantart and asked him a few questions just to get an idea about his works.

Bogdan: Some basic information about yourself, like how did you started doing graphic design??
Orioto: I,m 29 parisian artist. I studied cinema at school, but i experienced a lot with photoshop for my own pleasure.

B: From where did you got the idea to paint classic awesome games in HD format?
O: I got the idea for those wallpapers after i saw a project of sonic 2 remake done in hd. I wanted to try with my own style.

B: How much did it take you, on average, to make such a piece?
O: It usually takes 20 hours to finish a piece like that.

Master The Eye Contact - Use The Reality Distorsion Field. What Is It?

I always had a difficult time around people, when talking to someone or, omg no!, talking to a crowd. I am afraid talking to a crowd, and mainly because I don't know who to watch and speak with, how to behave etc... Add to this my complete lack of facial recognition and I am a total newb on HR.

If you are on the same boat, then we must listen to Mr. Michael Ellsberg because he knows how to use the so called Reality Distortion Field (RDF). This term was created by Burrell Smith at Apple to describe the way Jobs communicate with the persons around him, may it be a two person chat, or a keynote. It requires eye contact, manipulation of Personal Space and a lot of Being There Present. Besides Jobs, Clinton is also an expert, with many techniques in creating special relations between him and the audience, getting the feeling "The only two people in the room" every time he speaks with someone.

EXERCISE: While you walk down the sidewalk (during daylight hours!) look at the eyes of every person walking towards you long enough to see their eye color. Less than a second. Then look away. This is the best technique I know for building solid eye contact skills quickly. In my experience, if the eye contact is brief enough, no one minds at all, and you get tons of practice in.

You can also practice longer eye contact with waiters, salesclerks, cashiers, and other paid service staff, so long as you do it respectfully and in a friendly way.

In all cases, keep a neutral facial expression and soft gaze. You don’t want anyone to think you’re trying to stare them down, rob them, or get them into the sack. If you practice all this for a week or two as you go about your daily business, the quality of your eye contact will become better than most people’s, in a short amount of time.
